Through her practice over the years, she has a deep understanding of the essence of Tai Chi for the improvement of one’s health. As the saying goes: It’s difficult to find a teacher who is clear about what s/he teaches. Master Zhang is this kind of “clear minded” teacher that is difficult to come by! What is Tai Chi:Tai Chi, which translates in English as “extremities”, begins from a place of non-duality, and it is divided into two polarities. From the two, three is born, and from three comes the fourth; in such evolves the Chinese i-Ching hexagram. According to the theories of i-Ching, yin and yang, and the meridians of Chinese traditional medicine: the leading of Qi, breathing techniques, the ancient Chinese Tai Chi routine has been created which acquires the characteristics of yin and yang, combines the qualities of softness and hardness, slow and fast paces, looseness and shaking; the movements of Tai Chi Quan are consistent with the structure of the human body, and also does not go against the natural laws of the physical world.
What is Tai Chi Quan:The following are the essential characteristics of Tai Ji Quan. If any one of these qualities are missing, then it can no longer be called Tai Chi:
1. Being still as opposed to being active;
2. Being soft as opposed to being hard;
3. Being slow is more advantageous than being fast;
4. A few in number can defend against the multitudes.
