Non-credit Tourism Chinese CourseCI 101 - Tourism ChineseSpring 2015April 6 - May 28, 2015The Confucius Institute of the State of Washington (CIWA) offers a Non-credit Tourism Chinese Course for UW on campus students, staff and the local communities. It is a practical 8-week course designed for Non-Chinese speakers who need help communicating while traveling in China. Relevant dialogues and tips for traveling in China including taking buses/taxis, asking for directions, check-in in a hotel, shopping, booking tickets and other related subjects will be taught in this course. The course will use tourism-oriented textbooks introducing practical vocabulary, sentence structure and grammar.The class meets twice a week and lasts for 8 weeks. We hope to achieve a high degree of interaction between students and the instructor in class. Course Objectives At the end of the course, learners will be able to: • Master the basic vocabularies for travelling in China; • Develop Mandarin (Putonghua) listening and speaking skills in order to understand common topics related to travelling in China; • Gain familiarity with Chinese culture.
Duration 15 sessions x 1.5 hours per session
