The
Pacific Northwest Ballet's final performances“Nutcracker” was
choreographed by Kent Stowell and featuring sets designed byMaurice
Sendack. After performing this version of the beloved holiday balletfor
over 30 years PNB will replace it next year with a more
classicinterpretation choreographed by George Balanchine.

“Pacific
Northwest Ballet director-choreographer KentStowell collaborated with
renowned children's book author-illustrator MauriceSendak (Where the
Wild Things Are) to create this unique vision ofTchaikovsky's
Nutcracker. This Seattle holiday favorite will take its finalbows this
season after over three decades of making magic and memories.
Thedelightful and dramatic ballet tells the magical story of a young
girl whoreceives a nutcracker as a gift at her family's Christmas party.
That night shedreams that her nutcracker comes to life, and together
they experience a grandadventure that takes them through an epic battle
and a land of snow to the Landof Sweets. This lavish production features
over 200 dancers, a live orchestra,a tree that really grows,
magnificent costumes and sets, and an in-theatersnowfall at every
performance.”
Ticket
prices range from $35.00 at the rear of the secondtier to $135.00 at
the front of the dress circle (mostly gone) with groundlevel seats in
the $69 to $100 range.
There will be an optional social hour after theperformance (or before if that is what folks want).
