介绍:The American Asian Performing Arts Theatre (AAPAT) was created after sevens years of recovery, with goals to expand and exchange arts and culture between America and China. It evolved from the Asian Performing Arts Theatre, which was founded in May 1993. A number of excellent young dancers, led and trained by Li Hengda, created this first professional Chinese dance organization in Seattle.
In the years since APAT’s establishment, our members have used their free time to collaborate and perform with art groups in various American cities, and have traveled as far as Canada, Singapore, and Hong Kong. With the support of the state, county, and city art commissions, as well as various businesses and individuals, we have successfully produced a number of large-scale professional performances - the “China In Dance” series - in Seattle. We have also participated in many Puget Sound-area festivals, and ethnic and charitable performances. Our influence extends far beyond the Chinese community.
AAPAT is a non-profit organization registered with the IRS, with a Board of Directors overseeing organizational development. Our main goal is to introduce to the United States, especially the Pacific Northwest, the unique yet universal appeal of Chinese dance, and to provide American citizens opportunities to understand and appreciate an art form different from that of mainstream America.
Please help us by supporting the American Asian Performance Arts Theatre as we promote China’s art and culture in the United States.
